Our Mission

The Gospel Worship Experience Scholarship Program Inc. (GWESP) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, now in our 8th year of providing scholarships to our youth.  The GWESP has provided 101 scholarships over the past eight years throughout Virginia, Maryland, South Carolina, North Carolina, Washington D.C, Florida, California and Arizona.  We also provide books, lab fees, dorm fees and any other assistance that a college student may need while attending school.  The GWESP has to date provided over $201.000.00 in scholarships and donations.  We are here for our children so that they can have an easier time through college.

Our Vision

Our vision is to be a true blessing to students by allowing God to direct our path with an unmatched scholarship program.  We are in our 8th year hosting the Gospel Worship Experience Scholarship Program.  During our last scholarship program eighteen (18) scholarships were given to deserving students headed to college totaling $33,100.00.  Each essay participant walked away with something, there were no losers. Each year we desire to grow exponentially in order to be a blessing to more of God’s children.

It has been a true blessing being able to allow God to direct our path with a scholarship program. In 2024 the Gospel Worship Experience Scholarship Program wil be hosting its 8th year.  During our last scholarship program we were able to give eighteen (18) scholarships to deserving students headed to college totaling $33,100.00. Each essay participant walked away with something, there were no losers.  This year is going to be a blessing to more of God’s children.

Our Team

  • CEO/ Founder

    Kenneth Lewis Lee is a native of Chicago, Illinois. He joined the U.S. Marines at the age of 18 and retired after serving 22 years. Kenneth Lee is married to Deaconess Joyce Lee and has one daughter, Kenisha Latrice Lee and a grandson, Furman Christopher Hendricks Jr.

    In April 1997, Kenneth became a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was ordained as a Deacon in 2013, under the leadership of Pastor Alfred Jones Jr. Deacon Kenneth Lee has created a corporate prayer line where others can express and share their experiences through worship. Deacon Lee's compassion for helping others is shown through his love of God.

    Kenneth is a community leader who has sponsored and donated to various organizations such as Diabetes Walks, The Kids Closet, Homeless Shelters, Domestic Violence awareness, Breast Cancer and his Care-Package Ministry where to date has distributed over 12,000 care packages from Pennsylvania, Richmond,Frederick Maryland,Prince William County Virginia, Washington D.C, Stafford Virginia and Fredericksburg Virginia. Additionally, Kenneth Lee continues to contribute and provide service projects abroad, including funding for Opera studies in Italy, and a youth center in Freeport Bahamas.

    Kenneth has a Bachelor and Master degree in Business Administration. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at Averett University, where he teaches several business courses. Kenneth is employed at Prince William County Potomac District as the Chief of Staff.

Joyce McGhee Lee is a native Californian, born to Horace and Earline McGhee in Long Beach. As the youngest of eight siblings, she was raised in a vibrant and loving family. After relocating to Virginia over three decades ago, Joyce has made Fredericksburg her home, where she shares her life with her husband of 35 years, Deacon Kenneth Lee. A distinguished retired Marine and government retiree, Deacon Lee has also successfully established himself as a business owner.

Joyce McGhee Lee is a seasoned professional with a strong educational foundation, holding both Associate and Bachelor's degrees in Business Administration from Strayer University. Following an 18-year tenure in government service, Joyce transitioned to the private sector as a Government contractor. Currently, she serves as an IMS DOI Acquisition Specialist Mid-Level Supervisor on assignment for the Department of Interior, overseeing government contractors and leveraging her expertise to drive operational excellence.

Joyce McGhee Lee is a dedicated and faithful member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Triangle, Virginia, under the visionary leadership of Dr. Alfred Jones Jr., Pastor, and First Lady Goldie Jones. Since joining the church in 1997, Joyce has been steadfast in her commitment to serving others. In 2013, Pastor Jones appointed her as a Deaconess, a role that enables her to provide support to those in need, visit the sick and shut-in, and empower women to deepen their relationship with the Lord. Joyce has proudly served as President of the Deaconess Ministry for seven years.

Joyce McGhee Lee is a devoted philanthropist dedicated to improving the lives of others. Through her tireless efforts, she has provided essential donations to the community, including socks, blankets, care packages, school supplies, clothing, shoes, pillowcase dresses for young girls, summer camp supplies, and food. As the 2017 Illustrious Commandress of Mut'im Court #224, a charitable organization under the A.E.A.O.N.M.S., Joyce significantly expanded community service and charitable initiatives. Currently, as Chief Operations Officer for the Gospel Worship Experience Scholarship Program (GWESP), she continues to fulfill her passion for helping those in need.

Joyce McGhee Lee's life is anchored in her unwavering faith. Her ultimate purpose, mission, and passion are to honor God and live a life pleasing to Him, with the hope of eternal reunion in Heaven. Drawing strength from Deuteronomy 28:1-14, 'Blessings for Obedience,' Joyce strives to walk in obedience, trusting in God's promises and provision.
